In keeping with her love for clothes, colors, and textures, Montgomery was fond of collecting swatches of fabric. Several pages in the scrapbooks preserve disks of fabric, perhaps from manufacturers, and Montgomery cut pieces from her own favorite clothes to include in the scrapbook pages, as she did with her trousseau dresses. She spent years creating a crazy quilt from choice pieces of silk and satin and velvet, many cut from old dresses such as her mother's wedding gown, or taken from bags of materials she bought from manufacturers who furnished swatches for just this kind of sewing. Montgomery's crazy quilt is on display at the Anne of Green Gables Museum in Park Corner.

To view the skirt on the left as it would appear in various fabrics, roll your mouse over the round fabric swatches around it.
