A Tangled Web
A Tangled Web (1931)
Organized comically around a PEI clan members' jealous longing to inherit
an heirloom jug, the story exposes the failings and the sometimes ridiculous
yearnings of several adults. Some stories have genuine pathos and some deal
with vanities and wasted years. This is Montgomery's darkest comedy and
yet is still resolved happily for most of the characters. The book was printed
in England under the title Aunt Becky Began It. |
