The inside front cover of Montgomery's first scrapbook features a horseshoe-shaped shoe buckle given to her by Cavendish school teacher Selena Robinson. In addition to cut-outs and pressed grasses, this page also has two calendars, a "Dainty Calendar" from Youth's Companion magazine, and a glove-shaped calendar given to Montgomery by Saskatchewan school friend Will Pritchard while she was attending Prince of Wales College.
