Narrative Good Luck, or Lucky as he was fondly called, was one of Montgomery's favourite cats and lived with the Macdonalds from 1923 until his death in 1937. Adopted in Cavendish during a family trip, he was chosen by Montgomery because of a distinct clover-shaped marking on his side and suitably named by her son Chester. Montgomery's 1937 novel Jane of Lantern Hill is dedicated to the memory of Lucky.
