Description Magazine clipping of a poem.
Narrative The aspiring young writer L. M. Montgomery kept this poem near her as she wrote, pasting it into the front of her writing portfolio. It embodied her literary dreams and served as inspiration, reassuring her of her chosen path even when her work was rejected. The poem was so influential in Montgomery's writing career that she even called her 1917 autobiography "The Alpine Path."
