Narrative These pressed mayflowers are one of the earliest souvenirs in Montgomery's personal scrabooks, preserving a day when the scholars of the one-room school in Cavendish had a mayflower picnic. The students were invited to tea at Shady Lane Farm and then picked baskets of mayflowers in the Cavendish barrens. At the end of the day, their hats wreathed with the flowers, the students marched in pairs through the village and sang school songs.
