Narrative In August of 1911 Maud and Ewan Macdonald travelled to the home of Scottish author J. M. Barrie in Kirriemuir. Montgomery loved Barrie's writing and was inspired by his names and descriptions of place. See Elizabeth Waterston's chapter on Barrie in Rapt in Plaid. Notice how the poscard captures the village of Kirriemuir.
